Hello my name is Holly T. Meginniss.
I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Southern California where I specialized in Child, Adolescent, and Family Therapy. I have additional training in Domestic Violence, Substance Abuse, Transitional Foster Youth, and Child Abuse. While children and families is my specialization, I work with all ages and circumstances. My philosophy is that everyone has been a child, an adolescent, and is part of a family, so I’m a good fit for anyone. I work hard to make my office a safe place for everyone to be able to express themselves without fear of judgement. I also have experience working with LGBTQ issues as well CPS involved children and adults.
My experience goes further than my education. I am a single mother of 2 children, a boy and a girl; I too have asked the eternal questions: “Who are you and what did you do with my 2 year old/3 year old?”, and wondered how I would survive the trials and toils of a teenage girl and boy. I have spent 15 years as a volunteer in a variety of classroom settings with Spokane Public Schools, and have dealt with having a child in need of educational supports.
I enjoy employing creativity in therapy; I am a musician and someone who has hobbies of crafting. Coloring with adults and/or children during a session? Let’s do it! Bring your guitar in order to have another means of expression? I’m all for it. Building blocks and stuffed animals? They are here waiting. We all have many ways of expression, and I look forward to learning what yours is.
I am not the expert in your life journey, you are. I am simply someone to help with the difficulties in order for you to continue to live the life that you want and work hard for. I consider it an honor to be given the opportunity to walk with you for a brief time in order to help clear your path and show you the hope and promise of your future. I look forward to working with you!
